Gangnam Style – Noah’s Way

October 8, 2012

I showed Noah, our grandson, the Gangnam Style video and he was immediately hooked.  I grabbed the camera and shot this video.  You see his little brother, Ezra, getting into the action too!

Happy Birthday, Louie!!!

August 15, 2012

Happy 8th Birthday, Louie! We could never imagine all the joy and laughter you have brought to our lives.  We love you so much even when you woke us at 5 am this morning meowing like there was no tomorrow to tell us you were hungry.

Noah’s Critique of Suave’s "No Tear" Shampoo

August 11, 2012

We had the pleasure of having our grandson, Noah, with us for a whole week when we stayed at a cabin in Northern Minnesota.  During a shower, Noah became very upset with the shampoo.  He knew it was “tear free” but yet it made his eyes burn.  I grabbed the video camera and caught the conversation.

It’s Coming Along

May 10, 2012

My bojagi project is coming along.  Sometimes housework like laundry and ironing get into my quilting time.  Now that the grass is also growing I mowed the lawn for the first time in over a year.

Apparently, I didn’t take to it as I did to driving after a year’s absence.  Rocketman came home and looked at the backyard with a puzzled look then went immediately to the mower.  I do admit the back did not look like the front.  Where was this stripping coming from?

It turns out that when I went around the shed a little to close, I knocked the height level on one side of the mower from a 5 to a 2.  Rocketman fixed the mower and time and some rain will fix the lawn.  Oyyyy.
I have a small garden where I grown raspberries and other things.  Our son did not weed the garden while we were gone and it was filled with weeds.  This is what it looked like after a filled a huge recycle bag.  I was sore and tired after an afternoon of weeding.

Does anyone know if this is basil.  I did plant some when we were back in 2010 but I didn’t know basil was an annual plant.  I didn’t pull it out just in case and I was also exhausted.  I don’t want to use it if it’s a weed that would be totally gross.

I’ve also got a new (at least to me) favorite Korean song thanks to Ask a Korean:

Lee Seon-Hee “J”

She’s one heck of a singer

I’m Craving………………….

March 11, 2012

Nolboo budae jjigae.  I took this video shortly before we came back just to remind me of what I would be missing.  I just wish the video has smellovision.  We went to Nolboo just about every Sunday for lunch and the staff knew us well.  We didn’t even have to order, they would just tell us our order and we would shake our heads and confirm.  They also always brought me a fork because I would struggle with the ramyeon noodles and the metal chopsticks.  It will definitely be the first food I eat when I visit.

I Miss…

March 4, 2012

I miss the Korean show “I Am A Singer.”  You would find Rocketman and me glued to the television every Sunday night at 6:00pm to see the latest episode.  Seven talented well established singers would compete against each other in a singing contest with the audience both live and at home voting for their favorites.  These singers take it very seriously and it blows me away to watch them singing their hearts out week after week.  Every three weeks a singer is voted off and replaced the next week with someone new.  It is a genius idea and I found it amazing that the egos were left at the door.

I’ve heard that a U.S. version is being considered.  Can you imagine a sing off with American singers from all types of music and from all decades too?  How about a line up of:  Pat Benatar, Joan Baez, James Taylor, Toby Keith…  It’s fun just to think of the lineup.

My friend, Hannah, sends me the latest shows so I can keep caught up. Here is one of my favorite performances.  This particular week, it was duets with singers who had been voted off.  This performance still gives me chills when I listen to it:

Light Show in Seoul

January 31, 2012

When we were at Seoul Station last weekend, we saw this wonderful light show on a building across the street.  I took some video of it.

We’ve been running around doing a ton of sightseeing which I’ll post about when we are back home.  It’s been wild and we have been having a blast.  Our flight leaves at 11:30 am on February 1st and arrives in Minneapolis and the same time.  Imagine that!!!

Rocketman Returns!

May 1, 2011
Rocketman returned from Taiwan with all sorts of interesting things.  These earrings were made by a U.S. co-worker.  She let him pick out a pair for me.  I love them!

He also brought back these interestingly named peanuts.  They turned out to be crunchy and with a peppery flavor.  They were pretty good.

Rocketman also showed me bug bites all over his body which I recognized as BED BUGS!!!  Yikes!  So I took all his clothes and washed them immediately in hot and we put the suitcase he had taken out on one of our many balconies.  Hopefully, he didn’t bring any back.  I gave him some Benedryl to help with the itching.

I was able to grab my video camera when Rocketman’s favorite commercial came on.  It is advertising a pill to help men with prostrate problems.  It’s a long commercial and I only taped part of it but it’s pretty hilarious.

I also taped this lady who has a pretty unique approach to recycling or living green.  I had seen it before and when it aired again, I videotaped it.

I’m Leavin’ On a Jet Plane…

January 25, 2011

My living room before the movers arrived this morning. We had two movers and it took them most of the morning to pack up our air shipment. Luckily, it all fit. We leave tomorrow morning at 6am. Sister Two is taking us to the airport at that obscene hour of the morning. We fly to Detroit for an hour layover and then then 14 hour 40 minute flight to Incheon.
I am beyond excited and so grateful to be able to return to South Korea. I will appreciate every single moment spent on Korean soil. This time I know my time there will be short and the year will go by so very fast.
I’m hoping to see my favorite KPop artist Kim Bum Soo in concert! I’d also love to see Kim Jong Wook but he is still serving his military duty. But I leave you with his last video before entering the military. My next post will be from South Korea!!!

Korean Version of Aha’s "Take On Me"

January 4, 2011

I loved this song from the 80’s especially the video. Seo In Guk has recorded a modern version:
